Summit was forced to tie the wedding knot in an arranged marriage that didn’t work out, and now he is urging his parents to accept Jenny as he finalizes his divorce from his first wife.

A sneak-peek at the 90 Day Fiance: The Other Way mid-season premiere shows Sumit confronting his parents about accepting his girlfriend Jenny while criticizing them for forcing him into an arranged marriage. Summit,32, and Jenny,61, met online in season 1.

Leaving her kids, grandchildren, and life behind in Palm Springs, California, Jenny decides to live with Sumit in Delhi, India. Much to her chagrin, she learns that Sumit was in a failing marriage, and returned to America. In this season, Sumit will be finalizing his divorce from his first wife, while pleading with his parents to accept his and Jenny’s relationship.

“How can we accept this?” Sumit’s father asks raising concerns regarding the oddity of their relationship. His mother chimes in accusing Sumit of being only concerned about his own happiness, and ignoring the happiness of his parents.

“I got married thinking of your happiness,” Sumit claps back at her mother, accusing her of thinking it was a good idea but it was not. He goes on to ask his parents what about his happiness, and teary-eyed mother confesses they didn’t expect his first wife to turn out the way she did, adding that they thought they would just adjust.

Sumit says he was dying before his mother admits they made a mistake. He then blames them for not helping him, which led him to take that step. She replies that they did everything for him, including letting her go.

Visibly upset Sumit asks, “You had to let her go? I had to take this step first!” He says during the 2.5 years, he had to stop sharing his thoughts with his own parents.

He then tells them they are worried about what random people in the society would say, but because of that, he was the one suffering. “I told you three times that I wanted to commit suicide,” Sumit adds.

In a confessional interview, Sumit’s father admits that it was his fault. He realizes that he shouldn’t have made him marry, but says having a relationship with a woman more than double of his age is different from separating from the bad marriage.
